G&P to address skills gap shortage at Cenex

  • Quality management services provider to exhibit at Cenex for the first time
  • Company to help manufacturers overcome the skills gap associated with large scale electrification
  • G&P already supplies hundreds of specialist engineers to low carbon and connected mobility programmes

Leading quality management services provider, G&P, will be making its debut at this year’s Cenex Expo, in a bid to help OEMs, tier suppliers and technology developers bridge the skills gap currently associated with low carbon vehicle and connected automated mobility development and manufacturing.

Most widely known for its work in helping OEMs and tier suppliers around the world improve their quality levels, G&P is increasingly being asked to provide additional highly-skilled engineering resources and technical services to overcome the skills challenges linked to widespread electrification. Indeed, over the past three years G&P has supported a variety of automotive OEMs and specialist providers with qualified and experienced vehicle and engineering technicians, helping them overcome some of the challenges associated with electric vehicle (EV) research and development, prototype build, final test and full production.

“The entire automotive and mobility industry is currently undergoing an unprecedented skills transformation,” explains Stephen Molloy, Group Technical Director. “From vehicle development to prototype build, and manufacture through to aftermarket servicing, companies are facing an entirely new set of challenges. Often these require new skillsets that largely are still in short supply, which can lead to production backlogs or quality issues. However, G&P’s experience and business model is ideally suited to helping OEMs and their supply chain overcome these challenges, with a highly-skilled offering that can be easily flexed up or down, to match their unique demands.”

Alongside its work in the automotive and mobility industry, G&P also has extensive experience supplying proactive engineering, technical and quality management services in the aerospace, defence, marine and off-highway industries. It also works with bodies such as Wolverhampton College to develop and run IMI approved courses to further grow the UK’s engineering skills base.

“More often than not, successfully supporting manufacturers with an additional resource is more than simply identifying engineers who have the required skillset and experience,” adds David Woakes, Head of Talent Acquisition and Recruitment. “It’s also about making sure there is a good cultural fit too so that the engineer becomes a real part of that team, buys into the process and programme, takes the headache away from the manufacturer and helps them keep their costs down.”

OEMs, tier suppliers and technology developers looking to learn more about G&P’s specialist engineering services will be able to talk to its team of consultants throughout Cenex Expo in hall 4, stand C4 103.
