G&P extends BMW quality management contract overseas
Leading quality management services provider, G&P, has successfully won a tender to become the exclusive quality services partner for Parts Sorting and Rework activity at the new BMW plant in Debrecen, Hungary, effective from 1 April 2024.
Built on a plot of more than 400 hectares, the plant, which has been under construction since 2022 with an investment of more than €1 billion, will be the production plant for BMW’s all-electric ‘Neue Klasse’ models when it becomes operational in 2025. The plant includes assembly, battery and body in white areas and is anticipated to have a capacity of 150,000 units per year.
G&P’s appointment at the new plant in Hungary builds on several years of successful partnership with the BMW Group in the UK, having been the sole quality management services partner at its Oxford, Hams Hall, Swindon and Goodwood manufacturing facilities since 2019. Indeed, only last year G&P extended its UK services contract with BMW until December 2028.
“Building on the success of our partnership with BMW in the UK, we’re incredibly proud to extend this relationship at the new Plant Debrecen in Hungary,” comments Dino Kyriacou, CEO, G&P. “The plant will play a critical role in BMW’s electric future, so we are honoured to be working alongside them on such a flagship project.”
G&P supplies a host of quality management services to manufacturers, tier 1 suppliers and their supply chains around the world. With particular expertise in the automotive industry, many of G&P’s vehicle technicians already have extensive electric vehicle skills and experience. Beyond automotive, G&P also works with companies in the aerospace, off-highway, defence and household goods sectors, helping manufacturers ensure the highest levels of quality are achieved.
